_My name is Chris Ayres and I'm a PhD candidate in Microeconomics at UC Davis. My primary areas of interest are Game Theory, Industrial Organization and Financial Economics.

I've recently been finishing my thesis;  my primary paper is "A Definitive Reexamination of the
Absentminded Driver Paradox
."

About Me

My favorite Economists are Friedrich Hayek, Frank Knight and John von Neumann (in spite of his probable self-identification as a Physicist or Mathematician).  My favorite philosophers are Socrates, Voltaire and Thomas Carlyle, and my favorite mathematicians are Euler, Cantor and Donald Knuth.

My non-academic interests include pocket billiards, documentaries, dramas, and stand up comedy (watching, that is). I have been an avid poker player for almost 20 years.  I truly enjoy discussing with and learning from others, with a strong preference for dialectics as opposed to debate; others have unique experiences and expertise, and are excited to share these when speaking to someone actively listening.

I love learning about history, especially that of Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany, as I find terrible circumstances provide the most insight into human behavior. I'm not a particularly big fan of the History Channel anymore, however, as I feel that I already know enough, i.e. nothing, about ice road trucking, UFOs, and the minutiae of modern tanks.
